Surveyors Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Cameron Mills as its new President. 

Cameron steps into the role following four years of leadership by Craig Turner, who will remain on the Surveyors Australia Board. 

Cameron has served on the Surveyors Australia Board since October 2021 and has been the Chair of Industry Training Alliance (ITA) since May 2024. He is also a Director of Surex Surveyors, bringing strong commercial and operational experience to the role. His appointment comes at a pivotal time for the organisation, as Surveyors Australia continues to expand its national programs, advocacy footprint and professional development offerings, particularly the growth of the Certified Engineering Surveyor (CES) Program. 

Surveyors Australia Chief Executive Officer, Michelle Blicavs, said the transition reflects strong continuity and effective governance. “Craig has led Surveyors Australia through a period of significant growth and national alignment. We sincerely thank him for his dedication, leadership and contribution to the profession,” Michelle said. “We also congratulate Cameron on his appointment and welcome his leadership as the organisation continues to evolve.” 

With Craig focusing on his business at SDG, Surveyors Australia has undertaken a well-planned leadership transition. Cameron has worked closely alongside Craig over the past year, gaining valuable insight and ensuring continuity as he steps into the presidency. 

“This is a strong example of effective succession planning,” Michelle said. “Cameron’s experience and commitment to the profession ensure Surveyors Australia is well positioned for the next stage of its growth.” 

Surveyors Australia’s Board comprises experienced professionals from across Australia, representing all areas of the surveying profession as well as the commercial and operational realities of surveying businesses. This breadth of experience ensures strong governance, informed advocacy, and practical decision-making for members nationwide. 

Under Cameron Mills’ presidency, Surveyors Australia will continue to: 

• Strengthen national advocacy for the surveying profession 
• Expand CPD and education programs, including monthly webinars and on-demand content 
• Grow and promote the Certification pathway for Engineering Surveyors 
• Support surveyors and surveying businesses across all states and territories
