'The Surveyor' Issue 30 is Out Now!

Friday 12, Dec 2025

As we reach the end of an extraordinary year for surveying across Australia, the final edition of The Surveyor for 2025 arrives as a fitting reflection of all we have accomplished together.

Issue 30 is a celebration of excellence, innovation, and connection across Australia, marking a milestone year where the profession stepped forward in meaningful and memorable ways.

This edition places a strong spotlight on the Excellence in Surveying and Spatial Information (EISSI) Awards, which has expanded nationally for the very first time.

Across New South Wales, Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland, surveyors from all states were recognised for their technical expertise, community leadership, and contributions to some of the most complex infrastructure projects in the country. The depth and diversity of the award-winning work showcased in this issue reflects a profession that continues to grow in influence, capability, and national significance.

Readers will find comprehensive coverage of each state's award ceremony, from the precision required on major rail, road and airport infrastructure, to innovative digital engineering, humanitarian surveying projects, and the next generation of emerging leaders. These stories capture a profession deeply committed to quality, collaboration, and advancing the public good.

Issue 30 also features insights that remind us of the richness of surveying as both a technical and human endeavour. From the Guinness World Record effort verifying the world’s tallest hat with Monteath & Powys, to legal updates on NSW planning reforms from Holding Redlich's Katherine Huxley, tax compliance guidance for firms from People & Partners' Hadrian Pereira, and a reflective piece on the parallels between cricket and surveying from Thomas & George's Tim George, this edition brings together knowledge, storytelling, and personality in equal measure.

As we close out 2025, this final issue stands as a testament to the dedication and resilience of surveyors nationwide. It is a moment to pause, acknowledge an immense year, and look ahead with optimism as we continue building a stronger and more connected profession.

Thank you to all contributors, partners, supporters, and readers who have shaped this year. Wishing you a refreshing break and a joyful holiday season!
