This Week for Surveyors Australia

Friday 21, Nov 2025

It has been a big week of connection and conversation across the country. In Melbourne, engineering surveyors came together at Docklands for an afternoon workshop focused on project management excellence and the real world implications of AI for surveying businesses.

The AusPat team shared their award winning experience, Michelle Blicavs explored practical AI tools surveyors can apply in their daily work, and UK guest Dr Jim Mason offered a global perspective on AI, smart contracts and automation anxiety in the built environment.

It was a valuable opportunity to compare notes on how the profession is tracking while enjoying networking drinks to close the day.

Our advocacy efforts were also front and centre in Queensland, with our CEO meeting Premier David Crisafulli MP at Parliament House, supported by Natalie Marr MP GAICD.

The conversation highlighted key issues facing Surveyors Australia members and reinforced that surveyors are recognised and valued by government, particularly as Queensland looks ahead to the Olympics. This constructive engagement sets a positive platform for ongoing collaboration in the year ahead.

To round out the week, the 2025 Brisbane Seminar brought members together at Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill for a packed afternoon of technical and regulatory updates.

Speakers from Titles Queensland, the Department of Natural Resources, Manufacturing, Mining and Rural and Regional Development, the Surveyors Board of Queensland and the Department of Transport and Main Roads fielded some challenging and insightful questions from attendees.

With strong discussion, good food and time for networking, the seminar showcased the strength of the Queensland surveying community.

Thank you to our event sponsors including CR Kennedy, UPG, ACSIS, Surveyors Trust and 4D Prisma for their generous support.
