EISSI Awards Recognised In Parliament

Friday 31, Oct 2025

The Excellence in Surveying and Spatial Information (EISSI) Awards have received recognition in both the Queensland and Victorian Parliaments this week, showcasing the growing national appreciation for the surveying profession and its critical role in shaping Australia’s communities and infrastructure.

In Queensland, Ms Marr MP (Thuringowa) rose to celebrate surveyors as the “unsung architects of Queensland’s progress,” highlighting their contribution to everything from flood-resilient subdivisions to port expansion. She congratulated the winners of the inaugural Queensland Excellence in Surveying & Spatial Information Awards, acknowledging Surveyors Australia CEO Michelle Blicavs and President Craig Turner for bringing the awards to the state. Ms Marr noted, “Behind every great advancement in our state lies the quiet precision of those who map our future.”

In Victoria, Josh Bull MP (Sunbury) also recognised the profession’s impact during his speech in Parliament, attending the Excellence in Surveying and Spatial Information Awards on behalf of the government. Reflecting on the industry’s essential work, he said it “enables the government to deliver more homes, more investment in local communities, and the transport infrastructure that is so important to a growing city and state.” Mr Bull commended firms including ThinkSpatial, Taylors, Beveridge Williams, and Auspat Land Survey Australia for their contributions to major infrastructure projects such as the West Gate and Pakenham level crossing removals.

Both speeches serve as a proud acknowledgement of the surveying profession’s vital work across Australia, and the growing recognition of its impact at every level of government.
