Many of you may have seen The Australian’s recent report revealing internal government emails showing the CFMEU’s campaign targeting surveyors working on Victoria’s Big Build projects. These “secret emails” confirmed that senior public servants warned then-Minister Jacinta Allan last year about interference from the union, which was allegedly stopping non-union surveyors from working and causing project delays. Consulting Surveyors Victoria raised these concerns directly with the Minister at the time, and now the truth is out.

On Monday, while I was in the gallery for Question Time, this issue was raised in Federal Parliament. It’s a significant moment for our profession, marking national recognition of a problem we’ve been fighting to expose for more than a year.
Let me be very clear: our message continues. Surveyors are not pawns in industrial disputes. We are professionals who ensure accuracy, safety, and accountability on every project site. Our work is vital, and it must be protected from intimidation or interference.
Surveyors Australia will keep standing up for our members. We’ll keep advocating for your right to work safely, fairly, and without fear. We’ll keep pushing for recognition of the essential role surveyors play in every stage of Australia’s infrastructure delivery.
We have your back in Parliament, in the media, and on the ground. Thank you for your continued strength, professionalism, and support as we make sure your voices are heard loud and clear.
Warm regards,
