As many of you will have seen, the Geospatial Council of Australia (GCA) has entered liquidation, and the liquidators have now advertised the sale of its business assets, including its national conference, publications, and certification programs.

We want to take this moment to reaffirm our commitment to supporting surveyors across Australia. Surveyors Australia remains focused on delivering strong representation and continuity for our profession, especially in areas critical to industry standards.

We are actively pursuing Option 3, the certification of engineering and hydrographic surveyors. We’ve already progressed an application with the Federal Government to continue visa skills assessments and are in discussions with the liquidators about maintaining and improving the certification framework to uphold rigorous standards.

We also want to welcome surveyors who were former GCA members but suddenly find themselves without a professional home. We accept both corporate and individual members and welcome all surveyors.

Any 2025/26 paid up member of GCA that is eligible to join Surveyors Australia is welcome to apply for membership at no cost for this financial year, simply email ceo@surveyorsaustralia.org.au.
