The Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania is seeking a Surveyor General to lead the state’s surveying profession. This pivotal role offers the chance to shape the future of land tenure, mapping, place naming and spatial data systems in Tasmania.
Based in Hobart or Launceston, the Surveyor General will:
Provide authoritative advice on property boundaries, surveying standards and spatial systems.
Lead the Location Services Branch and oversee the LIST (Land Information System Tasmania).
Represent Tasmania on national committees and collaborate with industry, government and academia.
Support early career surveyors and contribute to Aboriginal and dual naming initiatives.
Salary: $170,409 – $188,400 p.a. (pro rata)
