CASLE’s Q2 2025 newsletter highlights its strong global presence, beginning with FIG Working Week in Brisbane where over 1,350 delegates attended. CASLE President Dr Charisse Griffith-Charles spoke during the climate and land plenary, with strong engagement from Pacific nations during sessions on Small Island Developing States. CASLE also participated in the Aubrey Barker Fund (ABF) session and held a management board meeting.
The newsletter also covers CASLE’s participation at a Commonwealth Institute event at Lancaster House, where Secretary General James Kavanagh represented CASLE among more than 70 accredited bodies.
Survey Review, the international peer-reviewed journal, continues to publish articles on geospatial science, land administration, and emerging technology. The July 2025 edition features studies on machine learning, tenure systems in West Africa, and more.
The ABF has launched its Urban Kickstart Programme 2025–26, offering grants and mentoring for young professionals in Africa and Asia to support land and housing research.
CASLE continues to support FIG initiatives and encourages abstract submissions for FIG Congress 2026 in Cape Town. Surveys on land administration curricula and real estate market transparency are now open.
Other updates include a new RICS paper on cybersecurity risks in commercial buildings, and several regional events. These include the upcoming 10th ISK Africa Regional Conference in Kenya, the ISTT Conference in Trinidad and Tobago, and news from the Zimbabwe Surveyors Institute. CASLE also reports on the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors’ recent visit to advocate for professional inclusion in national procurement reforms.
