We kicked off the 2025 National Surveying Congress tonight with a stunning Darwin sunset and a warm Territory welcome at the Mindil Beach Sunset Market.
It was fantastic to see the national surveying community come together in Darwin. With insightful days filled with learning, leadership, and connection planned for the next couple of days
Day 2 of the 2025 National Surveying Congress delivered valuable insights and strong leadership perspectives.
We began with a Water Ceremony led by Trent Lee - an important cultural acknowledgment and a reflective way to start the day. Delegates then moved into a full program of sessions, including impactful keynote presentations from Andrew Griffiths and Andrew Geddes, proudly supported by UPG (Ultimate Positioning Group).
In the evening, attendees participated in a Smoking Ceremony before boarding the Sunset Dinner Cruise on Darwin Harbour - an excellent opportunity to connect and share stories with fellow professionals. Thank you to ACSIS Ltd for sponsoring this memorable experience.

We closed out the final day with a strong focus on leadership and team growth.
The day began with a Surveyor’s Circle Breakfast, bringing together graduates of the Business Academy to reconnect. We continued on with Andrew Griffiths' practical workshop 'Leading Bigger' - an engaging and hands-on session helping surveyors put their leadership strategies into action.
In the afternoon, a panel discussion brought together a diverse range of perspectives on leadership, featuring Vanya Lozzi (Holding Redlich), Tiffany Wagstaff (People & Partners), Simon Byrne (Byrne Consultants) and Craig Turner (Surveyors Australia & SDG)
The group shared stories and insights on how leadership intersects across disciplines and what it means within the context of a changing industry.
We closed out the day with a technical walking tour led by Earl James & Associates and Trevor Menzies, offering a glimpse into Darwin’s surveying heritage and its legacy within the profession.
