As we head towards a Federal Election, our advocacy on behalf of members is increasing.
In the last week our Directors and member reps have attended a Business Leaders Lunch with COSBOA and an ACCI lunch with Shadow Treasurer, Angus Taylor in Brisbane.
Our Treasurer, Brendan Munari, attended an ACCI lunch with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese (but no photos!)
Our CEO Michelle has been in Sydney at the ACCI General Council and met with Shadow Finance Minister, Jane Hume, over dinner. Lots of functions with meals!
The highlight was meeting Justice Adam Hatcher, President of the Fair Work Commission. He spoke of the various reforms that are being implemented. The new flexible work rules have increased the applications to the commission but the right to disconnect only 4 applications since August so possibly not a huge concern.
Michelle managed to get a question in about the proposed changes to Work From Home rules in the Clerks Award. She caught him before he left and asked how we might get the Surveyors Award reviewed! Unfortunately there was no new news there, but we received a promise that he would read it.
The advocacy will continue through our connections with ACIF and a new Sub-Contractors Forum. We are also involved in weekly updates with ACCI about new policy announcements from the various sides during this campaign.

Thanks to those members who have agreed to provide case studies for us on the skills front during this election campaign.
