Parliamentary Inquiry into the 3G Network Shutdown

Wednesday 24, Jul 2024

Yesterday, Surveyors Australia attended the Parliamentary Inquiry in Cooma, to discuss the shutdown of the 3G Network, and its impact for the Surveying profession across Australia.

Special thanks to Jack Atkinson of Jack Atkinson Surveying, who provided valuable technical context, and real experiences of Surveying in regional and rural locations.

The committee had many questions and expressed concern at the impact for the profession, suggesting our evidence was compelling.

Our Head of Advocacy Melanie Gibbons has researched, and spoken with hundreds of Surveyors on the financial impact of upgrading equipment to be ready for the shutdown on 31st August this year.

Our representation of the Surveying Industry has seen great media coverage, with discussion in Canberra CityNews, Michael West Media, The Canberra Times, and The Illawarra Mercury.

We look forward to reading the committees recommendations when release, and will communicate the latest updates with our members.
