Perth, Australia – Surveyors Australia (formerly Consulting Surveyors National) and the Western Australian Institution of Surveyors (WAIS) have signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a new era of collaboration and mutual support between the two organisations. This MOU promises substantial benefits to members of both associations, aiming to advance the surveying profession across Australia.
The MOU highlights the importance of joint advocacy, allowing WAIS and Surveyors Australia to work together on national and state issues. This unified approach will ensure a strong, coherent voice for the surveying profession, enhancing the influence and effectiveness of their advocacy efforts across various platforms.
Furthermore, the agreement provides a framework for national and state-based functionality, financial arrangements, and the demarcation of responsibilities. It is founded on principles of strong collaboration, communication, and trust, all aimed at the betterment of the surveying profession and the broader industry. Each organisation will continue to manage their jurisdiction-specific initiatives while also committing to joint national initiatives of agreed value, ensuring financial and operational accountability to their respective members.
Co-branding opportunities are another significant aspect of this MOU. WAIS and Surveyors Australia will collaborate on events, advocacy efforts, and other initiatives, thereby enhancing their visibility and impact. This co-branding strategy will not only strengthen their public presence but also reinforce the unity and collective strength of the surveying profession.
The MOU also outlines a cooperative funding model, ensuring equitable financial support and a common membership fee structure across state boundaries. Membership benefits will be extended, with provisions for members to opt out if necessary. This approach ensures a fair and consistent experience for all members, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
To ensure ongoing alignment and transparency, regular communication and annual review meetings will be held. Both parties have committed to maintaining the confidentiality of proprietary or sensitive information shared during this collaboration, thus building a foundation of trust and integrity.
Richard Delany, President of the Western Australian Institution of Surveyors, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This MOU signifies a significant step forward in our efforts to advocate for and advance the surveying profession in Western Australia and beyond. We are excited about the opportunities this collaboration will bring to our members”
Craig Turner, President of Surveyors Australia, added, “Our partnership with WAIS under this MOU will strengthen our national advocacy efforts and support the growth and sustainability of the surveying profession across Australia.
