NSW Budget 2024-25 Summary

Our Head of Advocacy worked from the NSW Parliament on Budget Day to bring you a breakdown relevant to our industry.


Key highlights include:

Planning Portal Upgrade: $20.4 million allocated to improve the Planning Portal, a change we actively advocated for based on member feedback.

Budget Deficit: The State’s budget deficit will more than halve from $9.7 billion in 2023-24 to $1.5 billion in 2027-28.

Key Initiatives:

  • Housing and Planning: Up to 30,000 new homes, including key worker and social housing. $253.7 million for planning system reforms.
  • Transport: $22.09 billion for transport services, including Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 and Sydney Metro-Western Sydney Airport project.
  • Disaster Relief: $5.7 billion for rebuilding infrastructure affected by disasters.

Opportunities for Surveyors:

  • Increased demand in housing development, transport infrastructure, and disaster recovery efforts.
