We are happy to be able to release a submission into Unfair Contract Terms, that we have been working on with several other peak bodies in the construction industry. We were pleased to be asked to lend our strength to this issue alongside organisations such as the National Electrical and Communications Association and the Master Plumbers Australia New Zealand.
The aim is to address the Unfair Contract Terms within subcontracting agreements, to stop the undermining of the principles of fair competition, collaboration and equitable treatment of all parties involved.
Their use places unnecessary pressure on an industry already facing unprecedented challenges including escalating labour and material costs, skills shortages and supply chain issues.
Australian subcontractors carry a disproportionate risk, so we are calling for removal of unfair, partial, imbalanced and anti-competitive contract terms for the construction industry.
We are pleased that Federal independent MP Dai Le has taken carriage of this issue on our behalf. We are also looking forward, as a group of industry representatives, to meeting with Government to progress this issue.
