A BIS Oxford Economics report on the industry reveals more than 87 per cent of surveyors are male.
Association of Consulting Surveyors National chief executive Michelle Billcavs said the organisation was working to address that imbalance. "Ultimately, many females are not aware of the diverse opportunities and importance of the surveying industry," she said.
NSW's first female Surveyor General Narelle Underwood said women needed to realise the importance of STEM degrees.
"The economy, our general well-being, it's all backed by science, technology, engineering, and math, that's why these degrees are so essential for jobs of the future," Ms Underwood said.
