Consulting Surveyors NSW (CS NSW) has been tasked by the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information (BOSSI) to prepare graduates for the registration process. In New South Wales to become a registered surveyor, you will firstly need to have gained a recognised qualification or equivalent and a Certificate of Competency. The current list of recognised qualifications can be found on the recognised qualifications page of the BOSSI website. If you have gained a qualification that is not on this list it will need to be assessed as an equivalent to a recognised qualification. Further information on qualifications gained outside of Australia and New Zealand can be found on the overseas assessment.
After obtaining your degree you will undertake prescribed training and work experience under the supervision of a registered surveyor and the undertaking of prescribed examinations conducted by the Board. On successful completion of the examinations, a candidate is then accredited by BOSSI as being proficient in the practice of surveying and is entitled to become registered as a land or mining surveyor, under the register held by the Surveyor-General.
For full details on BOSSI requirements for Candidates please visit the BOSSI Website at www.bossi.nsw.gov.au

I would like to thank the CS NSW staff and mentors for running these workshops, I personally believe that I would not have passed the BOSSI assessments without them.
Additionally, I am of the opinion that these workshops are critical to creating a well-rounded Registered Surveyor that the profession severely needs.

Thanks so much to Adrian Barden and the team at CS NSW for the Candidate Workshop on Strata & Community Title. I can’t recommend this highly enough for all Supervising Surveyors to attend!!! To give my candidate Reece, the best chance at succeeding in the BOSSI exam, I attended both days of the Workshop in person so I could learn first-hand what he needed to know. I wanted to give him the best support possible as the Supervising & Mentoring Surveyor, and the workshop certainly was packed full of information!!! The course notes continue to provide an excellent source for Strata and Community Plan preparation, and to assist in understanding the implications for the future residents and the ongoing management of the schemes.
I was expecting to get a good refresher for myself since our firm does a broad range of surveys and development projects, but does not specialise in Strata & Community Title as some Sydney City firms do.
But what I received was much more – all the presenting surveyors at the Workshop were special experts in complex Strata and Community Title preparation and they were all so helpful in answering all my questions. They were only too happy to pass on their experience to myself as supervisor just as much as to the candidates.
Special thanks not only to Adrian, but to Rob Monteath and Tasy Moraitis for passing on some of your amazing wealth of knowledge. Also very special thanks to Matt Plowman from SDG Surveyors who provided an excellent Strata Project which helped my candidate Reece really understand the finer points about Strata.
Rachel Brown, Registered Surveyor
I am a strong supporter of the CS NSW Candidate workshops (Town Planning, Engineering & Design, Strata Community Title Schemes). Joshua was a participant of the Strata Community Title Schemes workshop recently. As his Supervising Surveyor, I attended Day 1 and 2 as recommended. I enjoyed being involved let alone the extra knowledge that I obtained from attending.
