The Association of Consulting Surveyors NSW and Surveyors Australia are committed to advancing the standard of surveying and surveyors across Australia. To help build a highly skilled workforce and provide support to our member firms, we have designed a series of events to upskill surveyors from any skill level. Whether you are new to surveying, hold a Diploma or Degree or have been registered for many years, there are always skills to be learned, and passed on to the next generation of surveyors.
The Upskilling Program will provide regular session on a range of surveying topics. These short and detailed courses differ from CPD events, as they are technically focused on surveying specific skills, allowing for industry experts to educate new surveyors, and refresh topics in the minds of experienced surveyors.

Our First Course Module: How to Search is taking place on the 6th February, featuring a 2-hour session with Mark Groll which will finish with drinks!

Topics of Discussion on the Agenda will include:

HLRV

  • locating alignment plans

  • Parish Maps locating crown plans

  • locating road plans

  • understanding the types of roads

  • identifying what title system the obscure parcel of land is (usually used for road closures / possessory title

  • If any time left over – understanding Ad Medium Filum Aquae

This Upskilling course will take place apon purchase, and costs $100. 2 CAD points available (NSW).

Upskilling Program - Training Credits Available

The Association of Consulting Surveyors are committed to advancing the standard of surveying and surveyors across New South Wales.  The help build a highly skilled workforce and provide support to our member firms, ACS has designed a series of events to upskill surveyors from any level.  Whether you are new to surveying, hold a Diploma or Degree or have been registered for many years, there are always skills to be learned. 

The Upskilling Program will provide regular monthly sessions on a range of surveying topics.

Your firm can purchase a group of tickets for training in the Upskilling Program that can be used by any employee in the firm.  Some sessions may only require one ticket, whilst others may require 3, 5 or 8 tickets depending on the hours involved in that session.  Tickets can only be transferred within the firm (not to other firms)

The first few modules will be a “How to”

  • How to Search – 6th February – 2 hour session with Mark Groll
  • How to Calibrate and Validate (GNSS & GPS) – 5th March – 2 hour session (at a EDM? Site?)
  • How to Design for Sewer and Water for drainage – 9th April – 4 hour session (Greg Oxley)
  • How to Prepare a Statement of Environmental Effects – 7th May - 3 hour session (Michael Lamont)
  • Field Notes Essentials – 4th June – 2 hour session (Bob Harrison)

Project Management 4 week course in June with Peta Cox

The second half of the year we jump into more practical and topics and will be out in the field!

  • Laser Scanning for Beginners – 9th July – 2 hour session
  • Laser Scanning Intermediate – 6th August – 4 hour session
  • Laser Scanning Advanced – 3rd September – 6 hour session
  • Drafting – 1st October – 6 hour session
  • Sub-surface Utility Investigation – 5th November – 6 hour session
  • Strata and Stratum – 10th December – 6 hour session

 

All session will attract CPD and we encourage team members to attend and upskill in 2024.
