Queensland

In 2020 our CEO spent three weeks in Queensland visiting more than 80 surveying firms to understand the needs of Queensland surveyors.  Since then we have welcomed hundreds of surveyors into our membership.

Advocacy has been the biggest need for Queensland Surveyors and our Association has worked to build strong relationships across the State to provide the voice that surveyors need in the halls of government, the Surveyors Board of Queensland and with other industry bodies.

With no CPD in Queensland, only CER’s, there has been a loss of activity and connection for surveyors to meet and discuss what’s needed, to learn from one another and encourage the next generation of surveyors.

Starting with the Business Academy and a series of roundtable events, our Association is committed to providing ongoing support to the more than 4,000 surveyors across Queensland.

Surveyors in Queensland are building major highways, bridges, tunnels and new housing estates – and preparing for the 2032 Olympic Games.  Following COVID-19 Queensland experienced a huge migration from the other states – everyone wants to live in the Sunshine State!  This has put huge pressure on the surveying profession to create lots and the infrastructure required for the increasing population.

The 2022 Demand Study (link) highlights that Queensland will be one of the states with the biggest need for skills.  That’s a problem given they only have one university delivering training for the whole profession.  Through the Surveyors Academy we can now deliver Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information and the Diploma of Surveying.  Find out more here
